Appointment

On June 25,2009 these events or stories played out over the news. Two stories hit the news and entertainment cycle concerning the death of two prominent celebs of world wide fame. As the reports came in there was an air of unbelief concerning the timing of the deaths. I believe that God knows how to get our attention regarding the essence of our souls. The way I perceived these events led me to a couple pieces of scripture. These two scriptures can help all of us that are still here preparing for whats to come. Hebrews 9: 27 gives us this piece. It says; “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”No matter where you are and who you are or what you are doing this appointment has already been made. It is written in the book of life concerning every one who is born. The key here is are we ready for the appointment? The only one who is privileged to know the time is God. Lets not get it twisted the hour is arriving. Jesus also refers to our appointment in Luke 12: 20. He blurts out this piece “You fool! This very night they [the messengers of God] will demand your soul of you; and all the things that you have prepared, whose will they be?” There is a tremdous amout of value in this statement. We do not know when that time will come. Are we prepared?
This evening I could not help but be overwhelmed by the two incredible talents that moved into eternity today. Most importantly were they ready for there eternal appointment? As we are bearing witness the appointment is not contingent upon how much money you have , who you know, or how iconic you are it is at the mercy and through the grace of a loving God , whose intentions are not for us to perish. The step into eternity is forever. There is no turning back. I pray that all who come to meet this appointment find the peace of God that passes all of our understanding. He will not put more on us than we can bear. It is up to us to make the choice so that he can bear it for us.
As I close I pray that God will comfort the families of Michael and Farah and that His mercy and grace find them at this difficult time. To all of us still here I pray that we find our purpose and begin the preparation for the transition into God’s eternal kingdom

In Jesus Name
Amen

Living: Christ Or Not

Straight No ChaserAs we go about the daily grind living our lives we encounter situations and circumstances that clash with our soul concerning the Spirit of God. How can we find the strength necessary to endure?

First when we visit the cross we find Christ hanging in the middle of faith and fear. Fear in this context is unbelief. The testimony from the Apostle Luke in the 23 chapter of the gospel gives us a wonderful illustration of how our Lord gets in the middle. Notice how one of the criminals references the point of fear, where he tries to blaspheme our Lord with the statement out of verse 39 by saying, “If you are the Christ save yourself and us”. But listen to the faith provided by the other rebuking him saying “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? Notice how he sees clearly enough to receive his blessing. Verse 41 shows us what he sees. He says, “And we indeed justly for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.” Listen to what Christ says, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.” Immediately upon his act of faith the one criminal receives life to his dire situation. What happens to the other? Let’s look at the gospel of John to interpret the fate of the other. In Chapter 3 verse 18 the Lord Jesus Christ gives us the result. He says, “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

As a result of his unbelief he receives his just reward.

Let Christ mediate the circumstances of your life. Each day of our lives we will encounter the cross and its wonderful illustration as we envision the sacrifice of our Lord interceding on our behalf. Let Him provide life in every area of your life. Remember He has already taken on the joy of the cross regarding our sin. As indicated in the book of Hebrews Chapter 12 starting in verse 2. It says, “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Verse 3 completes this by commanding us to, “Consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.”

Whatever you do today allow the cross to persuade you to life instead of death. Do not become discouraged in your soul as a result of the difficulties life brings.  Let the illustration of the cross give you the strength to endure until our Lord and Savior returns to receive us with Him in Paradise. To God be the Glory.

Amen

Emancipation! How beautiful is 40

44Emancipation :

The act of setting free from the power of another, from slavery, subjection, dependence, or controlling influence; also, the state of being thus set free; liberation; as, the emancipation of slaves; the emancipation of minors; the emancipation of a person from prejudices; the emancipation of the mind from superstition; the emancipation of a nation from tyranny or subjection.

As I watch history unfold I begin to see a form of Emancipation presenting itself to a nation and world starving for deliverance. To a nation looking to be free from economic, cultural, spiritual, religous, and racial oppression. This Emancipation by the spirit of God is being revealed as God uses this time to pour out His spirit on all flesh. ( Joel 2:28 ).

Take a look at this parallel. Dr Martin Luther King Jr rose to prominence taking on the mantle to stand up against oppression, racial hatred, inequality, and bigotry which this nation embraced during the civil rights era. He died 8 months short of his 40th birthday. It’s been 40 years from the time of the assassination of Dr King to the election of Barack Obama. During this time our nation has struggled with the opportunity to unify itself. We continue to have strife in regards to our racial, economic, religious, cultural and moral well being.

From a biblical point of view the number 40 is significant with deliverance. Moses spent 40 years in the wilderness before he encountered the burning bush. After leading the Israelites out of Egypt, Moses and the Israelites stayed in the wilderness 40 years before entering in to the promise of God. Moses spent 40 days and nights with God receiving the 10 Comandments. Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness before entering in His ministry. King David reigned for 40 years. King Solomon reigned for 40 years.  Noah sailed on the ark for 40 days and nights. For those who are somewhat apprehensive of the hope for this country just look toward the heavens to get the understanding presented and witnessed by the number 40.

This inauguration of President Obama has a strong influence in setting up the kingdom of God on earth concerning the deliverance of those who are hindered by racial, social, economic religious and cultural injustices. . Lets not get it twisted God through His Son Jesus Christ still has a tremendous input and investment in the earth concerning not only the church ,but humanity. It is by His Spirit and wisdom that we receive His understanding from the heavens (Proverbs 3:19) to deliver this world from the clutches of  the evil one.  Let’s pray that God will keep President

Obama  and his administration in his mercy, favor and grace. Amen

Have you blessed someone today?

Ever notice the edge on people whenever you go to the store, work or in public. Bless YouIt’s incredible how certain moments of our day can have a snowball affect on its emotional outcome. I was looking at an image on the MSNBC site a few weeks back and there was a man whose life was ending after a series of bank robberies at the hands of authorities on a highway in Illinois. Imagine his day starting perhaps with a kind word. Chances are he bounced out of bed overcome with a certain expectation of his life, which was not being met. Decided to take this all or nothing stance to retrieve sanity from a dire situation and as a result ended up on a highway in Illinois in a body bag. What if a stranger fell into his path with a kind word? A blessing! My point is that every day we encounter people whose souls are snatched by the grips of despair, that a kind word could be a catalyst to a repentive mind and salvation. There is a piece in the bible in Psalm 129: 8. It says this “While those who go by do not say, the blessing of the Lord be upon you! We bless you in the name of the Lord!” It illustrates this point, even though we encounter others who do not offer words of encouragement or blessing doesn’t mean that we can’t bless them. Bless and encourage someone with a kind thought or gesture. There are plenty of discouraging spirits around us continually, but a kind word or blessing destroys its presence and plants seeds for hope and restoration.

May God bless everyone who reads this with good health and prosperity in these rough times.
